Here’s why you should think twice before trusting a Zestimate.

Is your Zestimate misleading you? This popular online home valuation tool is convenient, but can you trust it? In my experience, these online algorithms are notorious for giving people the wrong idea about their property’s value. Fortunately, there’s a better way.

First, just how inaccurate are these estimates? To test it out, I plugged in two properties in the same neighborhood that have nearly identical features. One property came in at $577,400, while the other was valued at $451,200.

In my opinion, both of these properties would likely sell for a similar amount. At the end of the day, you can’t trust a robot to do what a human can do better. If you don’t want to over- or underprice your home, speak with a real estate professional. They have the knowledge and expertise to prepare you for the market.
